This course is a survey of the sources behind the holiday of Chanukah. We will discuss what the Mishnaic and Talmudic sources present us with, in addition to non-canonized sources. We will consider secondary sources to give us the full picture of where this holiday comes from and how we celebrate Chanukah in this day and age.
Blima Zelinger Maged holds a Masters in Talmud and Bible from Yeshiva University’s Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Studies and a Masters in Jewish Education and Administration from the Azrieli Graduate Program. Blima received her BA in Political Science and Business Management from Stern College.
